How to clean windows really well!

We don't like to state the blindingly obvious, but based on experience, do indulge us. It came about as a result of one of our team having had windows cleaned to perfection by a professional window cleaner.
One day later, a family member cleans the patio with a jolly-extra-jetty-jet-washer...and said windows are no longer clean. In fact, they're a disgrace. So with a smile on their face and no harsh words, they researched the most effective way to clean windows.
As we know a thing or two about windows of all shapes and sizes, we'd like to share our findings with you...

How to clean your windows:

  • Use a mild solvent (e.g. methylated spirit) or specific window cleaning detergent of your choice.
  • If it's a sunny day, wear sunglasses in order to be able to see the streaks caused by dried cleaning solutions.
  • Use horizontal strokes on the inside and vertical on the outside so you know which side the streaks are on.
  • If windows are very dirty add two to three tablespoons of vinegar per four litres of water.
  • Drying windows with a wad of crumpled newspaper works well and saves on kitchen towel.
  • If time is of the essence, get your window cleaner back!
